Your Names 0 names

Three Steps. Zero Friction.

From landing to picking a winner โ€” it takes less than 10 seconds.

1

Add Your Names

Type names one at a time, paste a full list, or load a pre-built wheel. Your names are saved automatically in your browser โ€” they'll be here when you come back.

2

Spin the Wheel

Hit the center button or click the wheel. Watch it spin with realistic physics, hear the ticking as it passes each name, and feel the anticipation build.

3

Celebrate the Winner

Confetti explodes, the winner is announced, and you can spin again, remove the winner, or share the result. It's that simple.

Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't

Built for speed, designed for delight, and engineered to just work.

โšก

Instant Load

Static, lightweight pages with no framework. Spinning happens entirely in your browser, with no server round-trips.

๐Ÿ’พ

Auto-Save

Your name list is saved automatically in your browser. Refresh the page, close the tab, come back tomorrow โ€” it's still there.

๐Ÿ”—

Shareable Links

Generate a unique URL encoding your name list. Share it with colleagues, students, or stream viewers โ€” they see your exact wheel.

๐ŸŒ™

Dark & Light Mode

Stream-ready dark mode by default. Toggle to light mode for classrooms and presentations. Follows your system preference.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

Install as an App (PWA)

Add NameWheels to your home screen. Pages you've opened before are cached, so a Wi-Fi drop mid-lesson won't stop the wheel.

๐ŸŽ‰

Confetti & Sound

Tick sounds as the wheel spins and confetti for the winner. Turn sound off and pick a short, normal or long spin for quiet rooms.

โ™ฟ

Fair by Design

The winner is chosen with a cryptographically secure random number before the wheel turns, so every name has exactly the same chance. How it works.

๐Ÿ”’

Names Stay on Your Device

No accounts. Your lists are saved in your browser and never uploaded. (The site uses Google Analytics for anonymous traffic stats โ€” see our privacy policy.)

๐ŸŽจ

Vibrant Segments

Twelve high-contrast colors cycle through your names. Every segment is clearly distinguishable at any screen size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using NameWheels.

Yes. It's free with no premium tier and no sign-up. There are no ads or pop-ups on the site. We believe tools like this should be accessible to everyone โ€” especially teachers and students.
Yes. The wheel uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) to pick the winner before the wheel starts turning; the animation then lands on that name. Each name has an equal probability of being selected on every spin, regardless of its position on the wheel. Read the details.
There's no hard limit. The wheel works smoothly with up to 200 names. For best visual readability, we recommend 2 to 50 names. With very large lists, names are automatically truncated on the wheel but the full name is shown when selected as the winner.
Mostly. NameWheels is a Progressive Web App (PWA): once a page has loaded, spinning needs no connection, and pages you've visited before are cached so they open even if the Wi-Fi drops. You can also install it to your phone or desktop home screen.
Absolutely. Click the "Share List" button to generate a unique URL that contains your entire name list. Anyone who opens the link sees your exact wheel, ready to spin. This is great for teachers sharing with colleagues, streamers sharing with viewers, or team leads sending a wheel to their group.
Your names are. The wheel runs entirely in your browser and your list is stored only in your browser's local storage โ€” it is never sent to our server (unless you choose to share a link, which contains the list). The site does use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular; the privacy policy explains what that collects and how to opt out.
Yes โ€” NameWheels is popular with Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok streamers for running giveaways. The dark mode looks great on stream, the confetti effect adds visual excitement, and you can share a URL-encoded wheel directly in chat. Check out our Gaming & Streaming wheel for optimized settings.
Head to the Classroom Name Picker page. Add your student names (they'll auto-save for your next class), then spin to randomly select a student. Click "Remove & Spin" to take each picked student off the wheel so everyone gets a turn, then "Restore removed" to start the next round. Many teachers project it on a smartboard for the whole class to watch.
